Soft Gelatin with Softgel Encapsulation Machine

Softgel Encapsulation MachineSoft gelatin capsules have become widely recognized and have acquired a wide market owing to their potential of enhancing nutrient bioavailability. Soft gel capsules deliver the nutrients in the form of solution or by using other absorption-enhancing media. With the soft gelatin capsule, there will be faster disintegration thus speeding up the delivery of the nutrients leading to faster onset of action. Apart from the aesthetic view, the inner content of the capsules is more important. Soft gels are versatile given to the fact that they can be manufactured in wide shape, size and color that also offers product differentiation.

The principle of manufacturing of capsules took a revolutionary turn since Robert Paul Scherer brought his first softgel encapsulation machine into picture back in 1930. Since then there have been numerous improvisations and improvement in the machine to produce higher quality capsules along with speed boosts. Softgel encapsulation requires a highly sophisticated technology and all the more highly competent operators.
Softgel encapsulation machines are available in various forms. They are available from laboratory and small scale to large scale production. Today, these machines are in compliance with GMP and adopts the newest technology and materials consolidating the features required for producing soft gelatin capsules.

The power required by a small scale encapsulation machine in a single phase is 220V. These machines have developed into highly precision tools today adopting a number of automated controls, which makes it easy to operate with stable performance highly reliable operation. The compact structure of the machine gives it an optimized design that works best for the production of the softgels. The equipment consists of one main machine along with a control system, a drier, a vacuum stirring tank, a set of die roller and a mobile platform. All the components are made of permissible materials ensuring durability and reliable performance. More than 90% of the soft gelatin capsules are made with these kind of machines. The GMP requirement states that all machine parts to be in contact with the gelatin ribbon and the medical solutions are to be made of stainless steel and chrome plated to avoid reaction with the products feed.

The process starts with the gelatin ribbon being melted and then debubbled. After that color and formula is mixed. The encapsulation machine solidifies the melted gelatin ribbon and then the medical solutions are filled and solidified and formed into soft gelatin capsules. Post this; the capsules are tumble dried via the conveyor for shaping. Now the capsules are ready to be packed after the oily stains are removed from them.
